The pier is closed
The City of Naples closed the pier, its stairs, restrooms, and showers for a full rebuild. Construction started in January 2026. The city describes the closure as about 18 months, and local reporting in October 2026 put completion around July 2027. That is a construction target, not an announced reopening day.
Do not plan a trip around walking or fishing the pier. Hurricane Ian (2022) left the old pier too damaged to reopen as it was. The new pier uses concrete pilings and ipe decking. Check the City of Naples pier rebuild page before you go.
The sand is a different story. Beach access stays open at the Broad Avenue South and 13th Avenue South beach ends, and those ends have restrooms during the project. 12th Avenue South west of Gulf Shore Boulevard is part of the work zone.
